New National Utility Customer Database and Marketing Systems
Licensed by Enron, Entergy, Southern Company and NIPSCO

CHAPEL HILL, NC, June 27, 1997 - Jackson Associates, a Chapel Hill, NC software and database development firm, today announced that four major power providers have recently licensed the new MAISY® State-Level utility customer database and software system.

MAISY (Market Analysis and Information System) is the only customer-detailed information system to provide building, equipment, energy, loads and other energy-related information on residential and commercial customers nationwide. MAISY has been licensed by more than forty utilities, power marketers, energy service companies and other energy-related organizations in previous months.

According to Dr. Jerry Jackson, president of Jackson Associates, "This product fills a critical information gap caused by energy market deregulation. As utilities make the transition from serving customers in their service area to competing for customers throughout their state and into multistate regions, they have to know more about customers in their new markets. Power marketers, energy service companies and new players have an even more crucial need for this information since they currently serve few, if any, commercial and residential customers. It is not surprising that both Enron and the Southern Company, the first two power providers to run national TV ad campaigns are also MAISY State-Level clients."

"MAISY provides immediate access to detailed customer information and analysis required in competitive electricity markets," says Jackson. "We developed this product by leveraging over a dozen years of experience in utility customer data development and forecasting for the utility industry."

MAISY includes customer data for 1997 and also provides market forecasts through 2006. The easy-to-use Windows-based software answers specific marketing questions and permits users to explore customer characteristics and energy use patterns.

Jackson Associates was formed in 1981 to provide energy forecasting and marketing software to the electric utility industry. JA forecasting models are widely used by electric utilities and state agencies for market analysis, forecasting and conservation.
