PG&E Energy Services and Cinergy Corp License MAISY Hourly Load Marketing Databases

CHAPEL HILL, N.C., December 11, 1997. Jackson Associates, a Chapel Hill, NC software and database development firm, announced today that PG&E Energy Services and Cinergy Corp have recently licensed MAISY(R) State-Level Hourly Load Marketing Databases. The new databases extend the widely-used MAISY commercial and residential state-level energy marketing database systems to include detailed load data for each of 100,000 customer records.

"The additional customer information provided by the hourly load data is especially important for cost-of-service, profitability, pricing, load aggregation and energy service evaluations" says Dr. Jerry Jackson, president of Jackson Associates. "However, MAISY's ability to access detailed load data for a single customer or for any user-selected group of customers defined by location, business, heating fuel or any of the hundreds of other customer variables makes this hourly load data a valuable input to the whole range of marketing analyses currently being undertaken as power providers prepare for competitive markets."

PG&E Energy Services, an unregulated subsidiary of PG&E Corp, is a nationally prominent provider of energy commodities and energy services with offices in more than 20 cities throughout the US. Cinergy Corporation, the parent company of Cincinnati Gas & Electric Company and PSI Energy, Inc., is one of the nation's largest energy providers, serving 1.4 million electric customers and 450,000 gas customer in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky.

Since their introduction in January, MAISY state-level energy marketing database products have become an industry-standard customer information source for utilities, power marketers, energy service companies and other energy-related organizations. MAISY clients include more than sixty power providers including Enron, the Southern Company, Entergy, Commonwealth Edison, Central and Southwest, Portland General Electric, Northeast Utilities, Pennsylvania Power and Light, Ontario Hydro and Bonneville Power Administration.

Easy-to-use Windows-based MAISY software answers specific marketing questions with mouse-clicks on charts and permits users to navigate through the databases, exploring customer characteristics and relationships ranging from an individual customer to all customers in a state or states. For example, the limitations of aggregate load shapes can easily be overcome with MAISY where users can see and evaluate the whole range of load shapes within each specific building type with just a few mouse clicks.
