Question 4: What Variables Are Included in Each State MAISY RECS Database Household Record?

Short Answer: MAISY RECS Databases include the most-often requested RECS data on individual households along with important new extensions:
  • Household demographic, income, dwelling unit and appliance variables
  • Annual energy use and annual end-use energy use
  • New: whole building and end-use hourly loads
  • New: emissions for each energy type and household total
  • New: user-experience data presentation ( i.e. variable identified as “elec” rather than “5”)
  • New: curated variables to include the most useful 92 household RECS variables along with household ids that can be used to access additional variables in the original RECS database
Longer Answer: MAISY RECS Database are available in two forms:
  1. RECS data items, plus (1) weather-adjusted heating and air conditioning, (2) fuel-specific and total carbon equivalent emissions, and (3) 8,760 whole-building hourly kW loads for each household, and

  2. RECS data items, plus (1) weather-adjusted heating and air conditioning, (2) fuel-specific and total carbon equivalent emissions, and (3) 8,760 whole-building hourly kW loads and seven end-use hourly kW loads for each household
